José Sedes: “The number of admissions of Covid-19 patients at Hospital Santa Lucía grows” | Radio Cartagena

The University Hospital Complex of Cartagena is prepared to give an agile response to the different phases that the Covid-19 epidemic may present in the Cartagena Health Area and has a Contingency Plan where different alert levels are foreseen.

The manager of the Cartagena Health Area, José Sedes Romero, said that “Level 2 had to be activated at the emergency door of Hospital Santa Lucía alert and up to alert level 3, at specific times “.

Sedes has also said that “these days, we are seeing how the number of admissions of Covid-19 patients grows at the Santa Lucía Hospital, which is the one that currently centralizes this care, and this Wednesday, September 2, we have 21 patients in hospitalization units and 5 in the Intensive Care Unit “.

Ante la evolution of cases in minor patients, Unit 26 of Pediatrics has also had to adapt 3 rooms for Covid-19 pediatric patients in the area furthest from the right wing of the plant.

As a reinforcement for these actions in Hospital Care, and since June 1, they have contracted 229 professionals in different categories from Faculty, Nursing staff, Nursing Care Technicians, Laboratory Specialist Technicians, Midwives, Administrative Assistants and orderlies.

In anticipation of the possible scenarios that may occur in the current health emergency and future alert levels, the different hospitalization units would house Covid patients with flexibility.

In this way, as many beds as necessary would be enabled in the two hospitals, Santa Lucía and Rosell, up to 1,000 beds in the entire Cartagena hospital complex.
