For 13 years, the program A family of ten has entertained thousands of viewers. This Sunday, the versatile Mexican Jorge Ortiz de Pinedo, producer, director and leading actor presents the fourth season of this series, and assures that this family history still has a long way to go.
The television production came more than a decade ago from Alfonso Pazo’s play Married house wants, in which Ortiz de Pinedo participated.
It was the son of the actor, who is a producer, who after the last participation of his father it occurred to him that the story could be transferred to television so they got down to work and soon the series was one of the most watched and it became with the affection of the public.
Later, it was turned into a play, Ortiz de Pinedo’s true passion, and with the same cast as the series, more than 500 performances were performed in Mexico and the United States.
Now comes a fourth season highly anticipated by the many followers of A family of ten.
“In the fourth season there will be many surprises. Another characteristic (of the series) is that it is not just a joke program, there is a story: the future of Placido (protagonist), of his son Plutarco, of his wife Renata, of his daughter Martina … it is not only making people laugh, but also caring and loving the characters because you enter into the intimacy of that family, “said the actor and producer.
And it is that the series tells the story of a father, Plutarco, who has to support multiple members of his family and relatives, so everything becomes crazy, despite the fact that each of the characters is deepened , placed to the millimeter to enrich the story, explained the actor.
That is why, at the current time of confinement derived from the global coronavirus pandemic, many more people are going to be reflected in the series.
“Now many people who did not experience this problem of being confined and not being able to go out begin to feel what it feels like to live in a group, the communes come back again. Being in a house and families getting together to reduce costs, people it begins to get fed up. Here we highlight the defects but they have love deep down. It could be a soap opera but with comedy it is very funny, “he added.
A story for various platforms
Ortiz de Pinedo is also very convinced to carry the story of this family so dear to the big screensHe considers that many people are waiting for him and it would also be a good deal for Televisa.
In fact, before the pandemic there was already a written idea and a proposal to the television house, but with the pandemic it has been paralyzed.
Another key to the success of this production is that the cast is practically the same from the beginning (they were even the same in the theatrical version) and that is how the actor and director would like to continue being if it is taken to the cinema. It is something that he always liked and that, he considered, perhaps comes from the theater.
“I really like to keep the casts, to extend the theatrical family to television and film and to know that I have a blood family and an artistic family,” said Ortiz de Pinedo.
For him, the uniqueness in the cast is the best way to ensure that the work (in this case the series) is the star and he has proven it.
“I live thinking and dreaming about a cast, the amount (the play) and I dream of a cast that I usually achieve and then usually lasts for years,” he said while considering himself lucky.
And it is that Ortiz de Pinedo, at 74 years old and with dozens of productions to his credit, continues to maintain the desire to work and the passion for the theater, so he looks for a way to balance this passion with television.
In the same way, he considered that cinema is also very important and that is why, he said, he wishes that A family of ten hit the big screen.
“The inheritance of the actors in the end is cinematography, because a theater function is ephemeral and television techniques are going to be constantly changing. What will never be lacking because it was established as the seventh art is cinema,” he said.
