Jordanian Monarch receives pastor: We affirm Jordan’s position and continued support for Lebanon

King Abdullah II of Jordan received the Maronite Patriarch, Cardinal Mar Beshara Boutros Al-Rai, at the Basman Al-Zaher Palace, in the presence of Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, Director of the King Abdullah Office, Dr. Jaafar Hassan, and of the delegation following Patriarch Al-Rai.

The meeting addressed, according to the Jordanian news agency “Petra”, “the fraternal relations that bind Jordan and Lebanon and the two fraternal peoples”.

King Abdullah reiterated “Jordan’s position and continued support for Lebanon in its efforts to overcome the crises it faces”, noting that “Jordan will continue to make every effort to take care of Islamic and Christian holy places in Jerusalem at the outside the Hashemite guardianship over it.”

For his part, Patriarch Al-Rahi praised “the positions taken by Jordan, led by King Abdullah, in the continued support of Lebanon, its people and Arab causes”, praising “the humanitarian and medical aid that Jordan has sent right after the Beirut port explosion nearly two years ago.”
