Jon Øigarden and Axel Bøyum play in a new Norwegian blockbuster film – VG

PLAYING TOGETHER: Axel Bøyum, known from “Delete me” and “Heimebane” and “Exit” actor Jon Øigarden will play in “Gulltransporten”.

Jon Øigarden and Axel Bøyum will together with Sven Nordin star in the upcoming Norwegian war film «Gulltransporten». But what is referred to as a big movie should not be shown in cinemas.

Viaplay’s first Norwegian feature film «The Gold Transport» tells the story of the Norwegians who had to steal Norway’s gold before the Nazis got it, after the occupation on April 9, 1940.

“Exit” star Jon Øigarden has the main role as the parliamentary secretary Fredrik Haslund – who was appointed to lead the dangerous expedition.

– I liked the role immediately. Here you have a man who is by no means a traditional war hero. He is not the toughest in the class, he is an ordinary party secretary who takes on an enormous task: to save the Norwegian gold from the world’s largest military force, Øigarden says in a press release.

In addition to Øigarden, “Wisting” actors Sven Nordin and Axel Bøyum, known from “Delete me” and “Heimebane”, have also been confirmed for what Nent describes as a major film, directed by “Børning” director Hallvard Bræin.

ACTOR: Sven Nordin will play a grumpy truck driver with a strong sense of duty, but who also has a sense of cold beer and the good life when the opportunity arises.

Not shown in cinemas

Filming will begin early next year. The expected premiere of Nent Group’s streaming service Viaplay is towards the end of 2022.

This means that the film will not be shown in cinemas.

Cinemas’ right to show films for an exclusive period is under strong pressure from the world’s largest production companies such as Netflix and Disney. Now it seems that Nent is also focusing on exclusive content.

– Streaming content is becoming an increasingly central part of people’s everyday lives, and their expectations of streaming services are constantly increasing. We have already released several Nordic films directly on Viaplay to great success, says Filippa Wallestam, content manager at Nent Group.

It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.

Nent describes the original production as a film about an unusual gang of resistance heroes who secretly saved the Norwegian gold reserves with German soldiers and bombers notched in the heel.

The “gold transport” has a very interesting balance between weight and lightness, and it keeps the tension all the way, says Øigarden and continues:

– Many war films become very serious and depict terrible human tragedies. “The Golden Transport” stands out in the genre as a fun and entertaining film with a twinkle in the eye. Viewers should be able to throw themselves down with popcorn in their lap and be entertained from the first second, says Øigarden.
