Jokowi’s Wrath and Cabinet Threat Reshuffle Page all

STEP whatever extraordinary I will do, for our 267 million people, for the country. It could just dissolve the institution, it could also reshuffle. “

The threat was conveyed by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in front of ministers and leaders of institutions present at the Plenary Cabinet Session at the State Palace.

In the 10-minute and 20-second video, Jokowi looked emotional. Jokowi’s voice rose several times.

Jokowi criticized his aides who were judged not to have any sense of crisis and work perfunctory.

The Head of State said that there was no significant development related to the performance of the ministers and the leadership of the institution.

He said that the past 3 months and the next few months were a period of crisis due to a pandemic. However, he saw that there were still cabinet members who worked mediocre.

The viral video is a recording of the Plenary Cabinet Session. The closed meeting was held on Sunday (6/18/2020).

However, the recording of the first Plenary Cabinet Session since the pandemic attacked Indonesia has only been circulating for ten days.

Video recording of the meeting came to Youtube of the Presidential Secretariat on Sunday (28/62020). Many questions and speculations that have arisen related to the release of the video recording the trial which is internal and should not be covered by this media.

From the economy to the pandemic

Initially Jokowi touched on economic growth with the potential of minus 6 to 7.6 percent. Jokowi also touched on budget absorption in ministries that were low.

Jokowi was upset because it affected people’s consumption. He cited the Ministry of Health, whose budget expenditure was still very small and far from the expected target.

President Jokowi also criticized the distribution of Social Assistance which was considered not yet maximal and the economic stimulus that had not been realized.

According to Jokowi, during this pandemic economic stimulus was the key so that micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) did not die.

The President ordered that economic stimulus be immediately disbursed to the economic sector, especially labor-intensive industries so as not to add to the wave of layoffs.

The threat of recession

President Jokowi deserves to be angry. Because the condition of the national economy continues to experience contraction and threatened recession.

Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting (SMRC) said that 71 percent of Indonesian people considered that the economic condition of households had worsened due to the corona virus. While as many as 76 percent of respondents said their household income dropped due to a pandemic.

The data is the result of a survey conducted by the SMRC on 18-20 June 2020.

Indonesia’s economic growth in the first quarter (Q1) 2020 was only 2.97 percent. That figure is far from the first quarter target which is expected to reach around 4.5-4.6 percent.

This is predicted due to decreased consumption and purchasing power due to the pandemic. Application work from home (WFH) and physical distancing also blamed as one of the causes of this low economic growth.

Not rule out the possibility, economic growth in the next quarter will be even worse.

Some groups assess that future economic growth will depend on handling the pandemic. Indonesia must improve the handling of Covid-19.

Handling a pandemic that seems to be long-winded, tends to be bureaucratic and the individual path will make it difficult for the government to boost economic growth.

Pandemic is still haunting

Cabinet reshuffle

Closing his direction President Jokowi requested that his aides have the same spirit and enthusiasm. Jokowi also requested that they do not work normally, but must do extraordinary steps.

If not Jokowi threatened to take hard and unusual steps ranging from dissolving institutions to replace his aides.

Why is President Jokowi angry? What makes Jokowi emotional? Is it true that ministers and heads of institutions cannot work? What ministries or institutions are considered unable to work?

Is it true that Jokowi will dissolve institutions and revamp the cabinet? What Lambaga will be dissolved and which ministers will be replaced?
