JAKARTA – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) reportedly appointed Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan and Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto as coordinators for the implementation of Emergency PPKM which will reportedly be announced soon.
Jokowi himself is rumored to be announcing the Implementation of Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) on Thursday, July 1, 2021.
“The results of the limited palace meeting agreed that the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries LBP took over the handling of the pandemic in Java-Bali and the Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga handled the handling other than the Java-Bali area,” said an Okezone source, Tuesday (29/6/2021).
The source said that Emergency PPKM will also be applied to the Jakarta area for the next two weeks.
“Implementation of Emergency PPKM for DKI Jakarta area for the next 2 weeks. There is no 100 percent office closure and malls are still allowed to open until 17.00 WIB and food must be taken away,” the source concluded.
Previously, the Head of the Covid-19 Task Force, Ganip Warsito, said the government would revise the implementation of micro PPKM in the Minister of Home Affairs Instruction Number 14 of 2021. He also said this change was the result of a limited meeting (Ratas) with President Jokowi yesterday.
“Then limiting social activities, disbanding crowds firmly, eliminating social activities, this must also be enforced properly,” he said at a virtual Coordination Meeting of the National Covid-19 Handling Task Force, yesterday.
