Joe Biden wins Democratic Party primaries in Kansas

Joe Biden also won, with a large majority, the Democratic primaries in the US state of Kansas.

The Kansas Democratic Party reported on Sunday that the former vice president won 76.9% of the vote. Bernie Sanders, who threw in the towel a month ago, raised 23.1%. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, voting was done by mail. According to realclearpolitics.com, there were 39 delegates arguing for the party convention in the state. Joe Biden has already collected a total of 1,406, which theoretically means that he can no longer miss the Democratic nomination.

During his campaign, his rival Bernie Sanders had captured 974 delegates. When he announced throwing in the towel in the race for the White House, the senator on the left however said he wanted to stay on the ballot in order to obtain the support of other delegates and thus influence the content of the debates at the Democratic Party congress during the summer. The two men agreed on a division of delegates, precisely to give more influence to the left and to unite their political party, of which the former vice-president belongs to the moderate wing.
