Joe Biden Plans to Run for Re-Election in 2024, But hasn’t Made It Official Yet

C’is an open secret. But for the moment, Joe Biden reluctant to make it official. This Monday, the American president gave a glimpse of what everyone is sensing: he repeated on Monday April 10 his intention to be a candidate for re-election in 2024. While indicating that any announcement would be premature.

The only unknown now seems to be the date of his official entry into the campaign, as the clues to his candidacy are multiplying. “I intend to be a candidate, but we are not ready to announce it yet,” the 80-year-old Democrat announced to NBC, on the sidelines of the traditional egg hunt organized at the White House for Easter. “I plan to be there for at least three or four more egg hunts,” he said. “Maybe five, six… what do I know.”

Until today, no notable Democrat has come forward to challenge him to a primary, foreshadowing a possible remake of the 2020 presidential election. On the Republican side, the former president Donald Trump is currently at the top of the polls, despite his recent indictment.
