JK Calling Covid Difficult to Invite Peace: It Doesn’t Look at Anyone

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

The 12th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla (JK) said corona virus (Covid-19) which has spread throughout the world, including Indonesia, is difficult to make peace with.

According to JK, there are only two choices during this pandemic, humans die from being infected with the corona virus or humans stay alive and then kill the virus.

“Because Covid-19 has two characteristics. Fast and ferocious. The pattern is contagious and malignant, it is difficult to reconcile. We choose to die or die (corona virus),” said JK online at the Millennial Fest, Sunday (16/8) .

JK then highlighted the term to make peace with the corona virus which was said by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). In May 2020, Jokowi asked the public to make peace with the corona until a vaccine was found.

According to him, the most appropriate term to describe the current condition is that the public must remain alert to the dangers of the corona virus.

JK views that Corona cannot be reconciled by anyone. Moreover, the term reconciliation itself must have the agreement of both parties.

“This virus doesn’t look at anyone. Is it an official or what. The president has been hit, the President of Brazil has been hit. This is not favoritism,” he said.

Furthermore, JK also highlighted the spread of the corona virus in Indonesia has continued to increase recently. According to him, at the beginning the corona virus entered within two months only developed 10 thousand cases.

“But now every six days it increases by ten thousand. This cannot be brought to peace,” said the chairman of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI).

To date, positive cases of the corona virus in Indonesia have reached 139,549 people. Of that number, 93,103 of them recovered and 6,150 people died.

Previously, Jokowi invited the public to make peace with the corona virus and live side by side with the corona virus until a vaccine was found. He also called for living in a new adaptation amid the pandemic.

Meanwhile, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian said there was a possibility that the corona virus could weaken by itself.

“Then the last scenario is that the virus weakens itself. We believe this virus is from God, and God can solve it,” said Tito.
