Jeff Bezos Believes AI and Space Colonies Will Benefit Humanity

During an interview on Lex Fridman’s podcast, Jeff Bezos rejects the dangers of artificial intelligence, and believes AI will do more good than harm. The former Amazon boss also says that he believes humanity will pass one trillion and live in large cylindrical space stations in the future, writes MarketWatch.

– I would like to see one trillion people living in the solar system. If we had one trillion people, at any given time we would have 1,000 Mozarts and 1,000 Einsteins, says Bezos

Want space colonies

– The only way to get to that vision is with giant space stations. Planetary surfaces are just far too small, he adds.

Bezos envisions humans living on O’Neill space colonies near Earth, built with raw materials from the moon and objects in the asteroid belt. The concept of O’Neill colonies was developed by science fiction author Gerard K. O’Neill as a solution to the problem of habitable environments in space. The space stations, designed as two cylinders rotating around an axis, would provide an artificial Earth-like environment and use rotation to simulate gravity.

Bezos is also dismissive of the idea that humans should colonize other planets, and believes building space colonies is the only way to achieve strong population growth. According to the billionaire, people living in space will be able to visit Earth on vacation.

Like AI

During the interview, the Amazon founder expresses that he is optimistic about Ai, despite warnings that it can be extremely dangerous and destructive, writes MarketWatch.

– Even in the face of all this uncertainty, my view is that these powerful tools are much more likely to help us and save us, even, than they are to harm us and destroy us, he says.

According to the Washington Post owner, AI has the potential to help humanity develop better medicines and better tools to develop more technologies, which can ensure humanity’s long-term survival.
