Jean-Pierre Pernaut future minister? This offer from a famous political candidate that he refused

As the race for the Elysée begins, some candidates are already thinking about their government. Notably one, who offered Jean-Pierre Pernaut a job as a minister.

When politicians eye Jean-Pierre Pernaut. After more than 30 years at the head of the JT de 13H de TF1, the famous journalist retired in 2021 to devote himself to other projects. But his success, and above all, his ability to have gathered many viewers every day for several years in front of his newspaper, seems to interest him even in the political world, where a candidate for the presidential election offered him… a post of Minister. In the columns of Point, we thus learn that Nicolas Dupont-Aignan, leader of Debout la France and candidate for the presidential election, would see Jean-Pierre Pernaut in his government.

In fact, this seems to be sensitive to the journalist’s attachment to the regions, which he has honored in his 1 p.m. news for years. This is why, in making plans for his future government, he thought of himself to the post of Minister of Spatial Planning. However, it is a refusal that Nicolas Dupont-Aignan has suffered from the star of TF1. Me, minister? I have passed the age, retorted Jean-Pierre Pernat in the columns of the Parisian. However, the 71-year-old journalist, who is currently battling lung cancer, does not seem completely reluctant to enter politics. “I don’t completely close the door. We never close the door”, he commented, without however pouring out on the ideas of Debout la France.

Jean-Pierre Pernaut is “not afraid of cancer”

Currently, Jean-Pierre Pernaut prefers to focus on his health rather than considering a political career, he who announced last November to suffer from lung cancer. “I was waiting a little bit to talk about it (…) if I talk about it, it’s first of all because you shouldn’t be afraid of cancer”, he confided after learning the news in May, a few years after having overcome prostate cancer. “I thought it could only happen to others, for years I was told to quit smoking. I didn’t believe it, well I should have quit”, he added, he now thinks only of healing himself.
