Jean-François Roberge will run for a third term as MNA for Chambly in view of the provincial elections on October 3.

“He will go where Prime Minister François Legault wants him to go according to his prerogative. This is what the office of the Minister of Education mentions in the Journal de Chambly as to the ministry that Jean-François Roberge could occupy if he is re-elected and the CAQ remains in power.

In October 2018, Jean-François Roberge had acceded to the post of Minister of Education and Higher Education within the Legault government. Accompanying her mission, Isabelle Charest had been appointed Minister Delegate for Education, elected in the Brome-Missisquoi riding.

In June 2020, during the cabinet reshuffle, Mr. Roberge ceded the Higher Education component to Danielle McCann.

Nothing for liberals

On the side of the Liberal Party of Quebec (PLQ), no candidate is registered, informs the team in question. This year, the party has changed the way it proceeds with its nominations. “Dominique Anglade (leader of the Liberal Party) has put in place an official procedure so that everyone can know the procedures for submitting a candidacy,” announced Maxime Doyon, communications advisor, adding that the process is following its course for the riding of Chambly.
The PLQ is not in a position to say when it will be able to present the candidate assigned to the riding of Chambly.

Parti Quebecois

On March 8, the leader of the Parti Québécois (PQ), Paul St-Pierre Plamondon, announced that Marie-Laurence Desgagné would be a candidate for the nomination in the riding of Chambly for his party. The 22-year-old woman, originally from the South Shore, began her work within the party in 2018.
