Japan Reports First Avian Influenza Outbreak This Winter, 143,000 Chickens Culled

TRIBUNNEWS.COM – Japan detected its first bird flu outbreak in the winter of this year.

Ministry of Agriculture Japan on Wednesday (11/10/2021) said a “highly pathogenic” bird flu case was confirmed at a poultry farm in the northeast of the country.

The ministry through its website statement explained that the prohibited zone was set up to a radius of 10 kilometers from the site.

“With the current situation in Japan, we do not believe that there is a possibility of bird flu being transmitted to humans through the consumption of chicken meat or eggs,” the ministry said.
