Japan Deploys Fighter Jets in Response to Russian Presence in Sea of Japan and East China Sea

Japan deployed its fighter jets on Friday (18/8) after patrol planes Russia seen off the Sea of ​​Japan and the East China Sea.

This comes as Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will meet United States President Joe Biden and South Korean leader Yoon Suk Yeol in a summit at the Camp David presidential retreat on Friday (18/8) local time.

The leaders will agree on a three-way crisis hotline and regular military exercises and agree to hold a trilateral summit annually.

Previously, the Japanese military also deployed jet-jet tempur in May against Russian intelligence gathering planes.

It is learned that Japan has joined Western allies in sanctioning Moscow for its invasion of Ukraine, and warned of the threat posed by Russia.

Its latest security document, which once called for increased relations and cooperation with Russia, now warns that joint military exercises between Moscow and China are cause for concern.

Last month, the two countries conducted joint naval exercises in the Sea of ​​Japan and conducted joint patrols in the Seas of Japan and East China Seas last June.

According to the Joint Staff, the Japanese military has deployed fighter jets 778 times by 2022, including 150 against planesRussian military aircraft.
