Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida is launching a new Indo-Pacific strategy and trying to create a front against the more aggressive emerging China.

Why is this important?

China is increasingly aggressively trying to expand its sphere of influence as an emerging superpower in East Asia. The West responds by wanting to contain China and form an alliance of allies as an encirclement. China’s biggest opponent is the United States, whose main ally in East Asia is Japan.
