Jamie Foxx is likely to reprise the role of villain Electro, for the latest Spider-Man which should appear at the end of 2021. The Oscar winner is currently in closing talks with Marvel and Sony studios, reports The Hollywood Reporter Friday.
Foxx played the role of Electro before The Amazing Spider-Man 2, part of the franchise in which Andrew Garfield was still the lead. After that 2014 film, Sony decided to share the rights of the superhero with Marvel, which spawned a new series with other actors. That’s how Tom Holland played the title role Homecoming in Far From Home.
Superhero Spider-Man has been played by three different actors since 2002. Tobey Maguire took on the role three times, with Garfield and Holland relatively soon after. The stories were told over and over again, but now the franchises are starting to merge. For example, Oscar winner JK Simmons appeared in Far From Home as news boss Jonah Jameson, a role he also played opposite Maguire.
