iOS 14.2 – Races after iPhone update

Several customers are, to put it mildly, unimpressed by Apple’s latest update to iOS 14, which was released last month.

On Apple’s official developer forum and the online forum Reddit flocks users with complaints about relatively poor battery life after installing the iOS 14.2 update.

Consumes power

– I updated my iPhone 7 to iOS 14.2 and now I have problems with the battery being drained of power, and it takes so long to charge and it gets hot during charging, writes one of the users on Apple’s developer forum, and below are several who throws himself on.

– Same here. iPhone 11 user. Battery health fell from 100 to 97 percent. I do not understand why Apple does this. The phone is not even a year old. We must get free battery replacement if this continues, but I’m sure we will not get it, one follows up.

Apple has previously offered cheaper battery replacement after the company deliberately slowed down iPhones without notifying customers. In March this year Apple entered into a $ 500 million settlement following a related lawsuit.

According to several of the users who complain, they experience that the battery status suddenly drops by 50 percent and that the level drops by 5 percentage points in a few minutes during normal use.

Frames mainly older models

MacRumors writes that the problem is probably related to the software, as several report that the battery level is high before it suddenly drops, at the same time as they experience that the level increases again after restarting the phone.

At the same time, it seems that the battery problem mainly affects older iPhones such as iPhone SE (first generation), iPhone XS, iPhone 7, iPhone 6S and the aforementioned iPhone 11. The two iPhone 12 users in the Dinside editorial office have not experienced a similar problem, without it is necessarily fasit.

Apple has so far not commented on the user complaints.

iOS 14.2 became available in early November and included 100 new emojis, better music recognition and new accessibility features for the blind and partially sighted with the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max.
