James Webb Telescope Will Find A New Planet Like Earth? : Okezone techno

NASA launch telescope James Webb at the end of last December. Telescope This spacecraft aims to explore the early phases of cosmic history.

But another question arises, namely whether this telescope can find other planets similar to Earth?

Astronomers around the world expect to find the unexpected, like a new planet for example, said Sara Seager, an astrophysicist and planetary scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

As is known, since a few years ago, astronomers have discovered nearly 5,000 exoplanets and estimate that in the Milky Way galaxy alone has billions more exoplanets.

With its launch, the space observatory is expected to be able to look into the universe that is more distant, as well as observe objects in our solar system.

Moreover, telescopes have almost become synonymous with exoplanets, or worlds outside the solar system, which can be observed in unique ways. However, according to a report on the Popular Science page, the telescope can only determine its size, mass, distance from the star, rough temperature, and—under certain conditions—a few molecules floating in its atmosphere.

Scientists aren’t even sure how many possible Planet B candidates there are, or whether any of them are truly Earth-like.

The telescope will only help to ‘sew up’ the gap, and being a large mirror, and found instruments will bring sharper focus to faraway places.
