James Rodriguez: Three Contract Terminations in a Row

Jakarta

Not falling into the same hole twice, but three times. Unfortunately James Rodriguez, three times in a row had his contract terminated by three clubs!

The 2014 World Cup was the stage for James Rodriguez. The volley goal after turning his body against Uruguay, even won the Puskas award, aka FIFA’s best goal.

After that, the Colombian player was brought in by Real Madrid. James was touted as a talented talent from Latin America.

Life is like a wheel, sometimes you go up sometimes you go down. After three years of ‘love’ James Rodriguez finally stuck too in Real Madrid.

James was loaned to Bayern Munich for two years. Then in 2020, Madrid sold him at a low price to Everton for an unknown value. But what is certain, is far from being compared when Madrid bought it from Monaco for 75 million Euros.

This is where the disaster begins. James Rodriguez was originally signed Everton for two years from September 2020, but finally terminated his contract in September 2021.

James immediately went on to Al Rayyan, a Qatari club. Only lasted a year, his contract was terminated in September 2022.

James continued to join Olympiacos after being approached by Al Rayyan. Again, this April 2023 Olympiacos terminated his contract which was originally two seasons long!

James Rodriguez now status without a club. Considering he is still 31 years old, James can actually still play at the highest level.

Each club that terminated its contract, did not explain why they did this. However, when he was at Everton, it was rumored that James was too lazy to train and had difficulty getting back to his best after being injured, so he was always on the bench.

However, James was still called up by the Colombian national team. Is it possible, there are other European clubs interested in it?
