It seems that this is the first vehicle on the front of which at the same time flaunting emblems of the brands Jaguar and Land Rover. The British company has long been working on drones, but so far it has only touched the distant future, so the issue of branding is far from the main one. For example, a year and a half ago, a “big-eyed” shuttle was introduced, which should establish “visual contact” with pedestrians to increase safety. And now the company has shown Project Vector.

The single-volume electric car was developed in conjunction with the NAIC (National Automotive Innovation Center) division of the University of Warwick, with Jaguar Land Rover contributing more financially. The team of creators is led by Tim Leverton, who was previously the chief engineer of the Tata concern (he owns Jaguar Land Rover), worked on the record JCB Dieselmax and participated in the creation of the last generation Rolls-Royce Phantom sedan under the patronage of BMW.

Vector with a length of about four meters has an electric drive: a motor, a traction battery and other electrical systems are packed under the passenger compartment floor. The one-car is equipped with a traditional steering wheel and pedals, but the car will be unmanned for testing: the start of the road program in Coventry is scheduled for the end of 2021. Apparently, closer to this time there will be more detailed data on the device and the characteristics of the electric vehicle.

Like other similar projects, Vector aims to work in a taxi or car sharing, as well as in courier services. And for Jaguar Land Rover, such a shuttle is one of the ways to implement the long-term Destination Zero plan, which involves switching to zero-emissions cars and completely eliminating traffic accidents.
