Sony wants to exploit the strengths of the PS5 and continue to offer exclusive content.
PlayStation fans can rest easy. The launch of the PS5 is on schedule despite COVID-19. That explained Sony boss Jim Ryan gamesindustry.biz and justified that PS5 exclusive games do not appear on PS4 so that the community can experience something really new.
PS5 exclusivity is due to new features
How much the PS5 and Xbox Series X will really differ in the end will be shown at the end of 2020 when both consoles come on the market as planned. But what is certain on the part of Microsoft: The Xbox Series X will initially not be given first-party titles.
Instead, sets Microsoft 2020 and 2021 on cross-gen, which allows games to run on both the Xbox Series X and the current Xbox generation. Xbox boss Phil Spencer justified this because they want to offer the widest gaming platform with the largest selection that caters to all needs.
Sony has a different strategy than Microsoft: Sony, on the other hand, wants to do it differently with the PS5, which is due to the features of the consoles. Games will also be released on PS5 and PS4, but according to Jim Ryan, the generation difference and its advantages should be used:
“We have always said that we believe in generations. We believe that if you take the trouble to create a next generation console, it should include the features and benefits that the previous generation did not offer, and we believe that Games should be developed that can use these functions optimally. “
The development for both consoles would not allow the use of new PS5 features such as the DualSense controller and 3D audio so that players can experience something really new, which is very different from the PS4 experience:
“We think it’s time to give the PlayStation community something new, something different that you can really only enjoy on PS5.”
