In the criminal case, prosecutor T. Čepelionis, who supported the state prosecution, said that R. Kruginas had lived in Lithuania for a long time, he had been issued a temporary residence permit with his family. this document was revoked and on the 14th of April, when a Russian citizen sowed fear in shops with fire and a knife, he had to leave the country.
“He had to return to Russia, but knowing that it was unsafe for him to return there, he was upset that day, so he took large amounts of intoxicating drugs,” the prosecutor said. “During the interview, R. Krugin said that he only remembers that he left the apartment where he lived that day with his family, and he doesn’t remember anything anymore – he only remembers being detained at the” Iki “store.”
According to T. Čepelionis, although during the interview R. Krugin admitted all the accusations made against him, he was still surprised by his actions – that the shops “Ikea” and “Iki” where he raged were the favorite places where he loved with his wife and children to visit.
The Russian citizen also acknowledged allegations of possession of a firearm, saying he had kept a metal sword in his car for a long time because he did not want to “injure the family.” Asked who needed this weapon, Krugin was laconic: “Self-defense.”
For the crimes committed by R. Krugin, the prosecutor proposes that the accused be sentenced to 12 years in prison in a correctional facility. In addition, the public prosecutor believes that the accused must compensate for the crimes that have been accused of him – more than 120 thousand. Eur.
According to the data of the case, it was established that in 2019. On the evening of April 14, at about 9 pm, R. Krugin poured the flammable liquid brought to the shelves into the Ikea shopping center and set them on fire. After causing a fire, he immediately left the shopping center, and less than an hour later he organized another attack on Jonažolių st. in the Iki store. After breaking into the office premises of the store, where two employees were counting the cash, R. Krugin poured flammable liquid on both employees, the furniture in the room and planned to set the room on fire – pulled out a lighter and tried to light it, but one of the sellers resisted and knocked it out.
Such behavior of the woman outraged R. Krugin – he hit the woman in the neck area with a self-made sword and injured her.
Due to the confusion, R. Krugin kidnapped two cash drawers with 4 thousand. 717 Eur and tried to leave the office. But three other employees of the store got in his way – in the corridor of the store he lit two bottles of flammable liquid and part of the kidnapped money, and during the struggle he wounded “Iki” security guards with a knife. One of them was seriously injured, the other two suffered minor health problems.
Krugin ran out of the store after breaking a locked door, but was soon detained by police officers in the supermarket parking lot.
The public prosecutor has no doubt that Mr Krugin was going to burn both vendors still alive, and his main purpose was the money that made him come to the mall.
According to the prosecutor, R. Krugin had not been convicted before, but had been punished administratively, and his state of health had been questioned during the investigation, which led to a psychiatric examination. But doctors found him healthy and could be held accountable for his actions.
In case of doubt, the criminal court had re-appointed the examination, but this time it was stationary, during which the doctors reiterated their conclusions and added that R. Krugin tended to dramatize his actions, and the experts noted that the man had “signs of simulation” .
