“We suffered significant losses of troops, this is a huge tragedy for us,” Peskov said.

At the same time, he continues to insist that the shelling by Russian troops of civilian facilities in Mariupol, in particular a maternity hospital, as well as the massacres of civilians in Bucha, are “fake”.

When asked if he was ready to cooperate with the International Criminal Court in investigating these and other crimes, Peskov replied that Russia does not recognize the International Criminal Court.

He also said that he did not consider it possible to bring dictator Putin to justice in this court.

Asked if he considers sanctions against Russia an existential threat, Peskov said that the Russian Federation has been living under sanctions for “decades of years.”

“We started preparing for these sanctions a year ago. And so now, of course, we are in a very difficult situation in terms of the economy, but our economy is still on its feet, and we are doing well,” Putin’s secretary said.
