A group of tourists from the USA, among them a child, together with friends from Great Britain and New Zealand as well as an Italian, arrived on Sardinia on a private plane on Wednesday. Local media reported that attempts were made to solve the problem at Cagliari Airport for hours. For example, consent was granted to admit tourists from the USA to the island, but only after quarantine. All this time travelers spent in the hangar waiting for the decision.

Finally, on Thursday, everyone left Sardinia, including the citizens of those countries who, after lifting the EU restrictions, could stay on the island.

Christian Solinas protested on Thursday against a “restrictive interpretation” of the rules, which he considered “contrary to common sense.” He assured the authorities that the intention was to ensure sanitary safety in this case. “This case has seriously damaged the international tourist credibility of our island and our hospitality,” said the governor.
