Italy has placed the Sicilian refinery of Russian oil giant Lukoil under temporary state management.
The goal is to avoid its closure and guarantee the national energy supply, reports Nova TV.
There was a real danger that the Lukoil-controlled refinery, one of the largest in Europe, would stop production due to the entry into force on December 5 of the embargo imposed by the European Union on the import of Russian crude by sea .
Rome thus follows the example of Berlin, which in September took control of the activities of the Russian oil group RosNeft in Germany.
