Roberto Mancini has announced the Italian squad for Euro 2020. Sassuolo striker Giacomo Raspadori was brought in and ruled out Gianluca Mancini, Matteo Pessina and Matteo Politano.
Azzurri are in Group A with Switzerland, Turkey and Wales. This European football party opened with the Italy vs Turkey duel at the Stadio Olimpico, Saturday (12/6/2021) early morning WIB.
Roberto Mancini had previously narrowed 28 names out of 33 available. This means that there are two players who must be crossed out, but on Wednesday (2/6/2021) at dawn WIB, it turned out that three players from the temporary squad list were sent home.
Gianluca Mancini, Pessina, and Politano must be willing to be kicked out. On the other hand, Mancini as the head coach again called Raspadori, who was previously returned to the Italy squad for the U-21 European Cup. The return of Raspadori to the senior squad because Italy had just been knocked out of the hands of Portugal in the quarterfinals.
“We hope this adventure lasts as long as possible and we can make Italians happy,” Mancini said as quoted by Football Italia.
“Our national team was born after the disappointment of the 2018 World Cup and a lot of young players came in, plus luckily we started strong and that helped create this positive atmosphere.”
