Rome – The Italian Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, announced today that the Government extended restrictive measures from the north of the country to the entire peninsula, so that movements throughout the territory are restricted to try to contain the advance of the coronavirus.
“There will not be a red zone, a restricted zone of the country and another no. Italy will be protected as a whole. It is about avoiding movements throughout the peninsula, with the exception of cases of necessity, for work or health reasons”he indicated.
The Italian Government also suspended sporting events throughout the country on a temporary basis and until April 3 due to the advance of the coronavirus, which has already caused 463 deaths and almost 8,000 infected.
“There is no reason for sporting events to continue”, said the Italian prime minister in an appearance at the headquarters of the Headquarters of the Government of Rome.
The Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) had asked the Executive on Monday to approve by decree the decision approved by the Committee to suspend all sporting events in Italy until April 3.
