Italian Football Association hopes to resume training in early May NOW

The Italian football association FIGC hopes that clubs in Serie A can train again from the beginning of May. Federal President Gabriele Gravina wishes that by then all players can be tested for the corona virus.

“There will be a consultation soon. We will then establish a procedure that we will then communicate. I hope that we can test all players at the beginning of May so that they can train again afterwards,” Gravina told Sky Sport Italia.

All Serie A matches have been postponed until further notice. Soccer has not been played in Italy since March 9, but the football association has since committed to playing the league. It can therefore not be excluded that there will be continued play in the summer months.

“When conditions are right again, we’ll finish the season,” Gravina continued. “Whether we will play in the summer? We don’t have a deadline, but we want to finish the competition.”

Clubs have yet to play twelve or thirteen games

Most Serie A clubs have yet to complete twelve matches, but for eight clubs – including number three Internazionale and number four Atalanta – there are still thirteen league matches on the program.

Italy has been hit hard by the corona virus. The country already has nearly 20,000 deaths and more than 156,000 registered infections. Some Serie A players, such as Paulo Dybala and Daniele Rugani from Juventus, have also been infected.
