Jürgen Klopp described the moment of winning the title with Liverpool as a “pure explosion” of feelings. “We counted down the last five seconds. Unfortunately, the referee counted a bit longer, so we had to wait two or three passes. The moment it happened what was a sheer explosion,” said Klopp in an interview on the club homepage.

Klopp had followed rival Manchester City’s decisive loss to Chelsea FC (1-2) with the team at Hotel Formby Hall Golf Club. The first championship in 30 years was a salvation for the entire club. “30 years! 30 years ago, when I was 23. And at that time I wasn’t really thinking of becoming a champion with Liverpool, to be honest. I didn’t have the skills at all. I sit here 30 years later, that is incredible, “said Klopp.
