The monthly parking subscription system granted to the deputies of the Riga City Council by SIA “Rīgas satiksme” and paid for by the Riga City Council should be replaced with other solutions, concluded the Chairman of the Riga City Council Mārtiņš Staķis (APP) and Mārtiņš Kossovičs.
According to them, the system, which was used for years, allowed that the parking lot subscriptions issued to the council deputies by “Rīgas satiksme” cost 250 euros each from Rigans’ tax money. In addition, it was not always possible to trace the justification and usefulness of their use.
Politicians believe that the current system does not comply with the principles of good and fair governance.
Therefore, the faction will propose to suspend the current system and in the future will offer council members the opportunity to use the city’s monthly public transport subscription or pay for parking, each time using the electronic payment system. This will allow you to clearly see who the real payer is, for how long the car has been parked and whether it meets the needs of the job.
“The current monthly subscription system for parking lots for Riga City Council deputies was inadequately expensive and allowed its unfair use. By changing this system, we take care to make the management of Riga transparent and transparent,” Kossovičs commented.
