When asked by heise online, Lufthansa did not explain exactly what the IT malfunction was and how it affected it. The problem existed yesterday afternoon and evening and has now been resolved. Due to the IT disruption, individual customer interfaces were only accessible to a limited extent, the company explained.

Due to the winter weather, there will also be some delays on Lufthansa flights to and from Frankfurt am Main this Tuesday, Lufthansa announced. Deletions must be expected in isolated cases.

In the current winter flight schedule, 82 airlines at Frankfurt Airport offer passenger flights to 242 destinations in 94 countries worldwide. 2,765 connections to 126 destinations serve continental destinations, 994 flights take passengers to 116 intercontinental destinations. Compared to the previous year, the number of weekly flight connections from Frankfurt increased by 16 percent. With an average of 3,759 passenger flights per week, the number of flights in the winter timetable is almost back to the level of winter 2019/2020, before the coronavirus pandemic impacted air traffic.
