Experts also warn against eating high-fiber foods, avoid eating sugarless gum, because many sugarless gums are made of artificial sweeteners such as sorbitol and xylitol, which have been shown to cause diarrhea, plus chewing gum brings on swallowing more air and gas. .

A change in the gut system’s microbiome is another factor that increases the risk of developing IBS. Our gut contains good bacteria and when there is an infection, it disturbs the overall health of the gut.

Stress is also another factor that causes IBS: Research studies have found that strong emotions such as stress trigger the brain to send pain signals to the intestines which can cause the colon to react.

Signs and symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome

Irritable bowel syndrome includes a cluster of symptoms such as abdominal pain, bloating, and changes in bowel movements that can sometimes be diarrhea, constipation, or both. Weight loss is another big sign of IBS.

Researchers have linked IBS with associated lifestyle changes, busy life and stress associated with impaired regulatory T-cell response, and sexual bonding associated with the onset of IBS has a mixed outcome.
