TEHERAN – A flag Israel and a banner that says’ Thank You Mossad ‘appeared on the overpass of the Capital City Iran , Tehran. The appearance of the flags and banners followed assassination of Iran’s top nuclear scientist .

Israeli flags and banners praising the Jewish state’s intelligence agency were seen over a busy road in Tehran on Monday.

Video footage and photos of the flag and banners began circulating on social media, following reports that an unidentified person had hung the flags and banners on a bridge over a boulevard in the Pars neighborhood of Tehran as quoted by the Israeli news agency, Israel National News, Tuesday (8/12/2020).

The Israeli flag is a forbidden symbol in Iran, which has been at war with Israel for decades.

The banner reading “Thank you, Mossad”, appears to refer to the recent assassination of Iran’s top nuclear scientist, Mohsen Fakhrizadeh.

Fakhrizadeh’s murder is widely attributed to the Israeli Mossad, although Israel has not officially recognized any role in the killing.(Also read: Israeli Media: There is a recording of Fakhrizadeh talking about building 5 Iranian nuclear warheads )

Iranian leaders hailed Fakhrizadeh as a martyr and paid military tribute to the nuclear scientist who was killed last week during his funeral.

This act of defiance against the Iranian government by raising the Israeli flag as the center of expression of dissent is not the first time.

In January, Iranian protesters demonstrating against their country’s government were seen dodging the giant Israeli and American flags on the ground during demonstrations, so as not to trample them.

Video from a student protest in Tehran shows thousands of demonstrators cautiously walking around two giant flags, which have been placed on the ground to encourage pedestrians to trample them in a sign of humiliation.(Also read: Zionists are starting to worry that Iran will attack Israeli interests abroad )
