Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Israel launched another air attack on Syria’s Aleppo Airport on Saturday night (14/10/2023) local time. As a result of this attack, Syria’s Aleppo Airport could no longer be used.
“The Israeli enemy launched air strikes from the direction of the Mediterranean Sea, west of Latakia, targeting Aleppo International Airport, which caused material damage to the airport and made it no longer usable,” the Syrian Defense Ministry said.
Regarding this attack, the Israeli military did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The airport only started operating on Saturday after simultaneous missile attacks by Israeli forces on airports in the Syrian capital, Damascus, and the northern city of Aleppo, damaged the runway and made both airports unable to operate last Thursday (12/ 10/2023).
Until now, according to a Reuters report, Damascus Airport is still not functioning. Sources said the attack on the airport was intended to disrupt Iran’s supply lines to Syria, where Tehran’s influence has grown since the country began backing President Bashar al-Assad in the civil war that began in 2011.
On the other hand, the Hamas versus Israel war has left more than 320 Palestinians killed in the past 24 hours, including many women and children killed in Israeli airstrikes on convoys leaving Gaza City, according to health officials.
According to Al-Jazeera, the rising death toll occurred as Israel continued bombing Gaza a day after ordering its 1.1 million residents to flee to the south ahead of a ground offensive, in response to a Hamas attack on Israel last week.
At least 2,215 Palestinians were killed and 8,714 injured in Israeli air strikes on Gaza. Meanwhile, the number of people killed in Israel has reached 1,300, and more than 3,400 people were injured.
