TRIBUNWOW.COM – The British Institute for Research and Innovation (UKRI) released the results of a recent study regarding the long-term effects that could occur if: Covid-19 attack the lungs, Wednesday (7/8/2021).
The study, which is also released on its official website, UKRI.org , aims to develop treatment strategies and prevent disability.
It is said that in the UK many people are recovering from Covid-19 suffer from symptoms of long-term lung damage.
The common symptoms of long Covid, such as shortness of breath, coughing, fatigue, and limited ability to exercise, were investigated and found out if they were related to a decrease in lung function.
Because Covid-19 causes inflammation in the lungs more often than other organs.
Inflammation may improve over time, but in some people it can last longer.
In severe cases, the lungs can become scarred or scar tissue.
Scar tissue causes stiffness in the lungs, and can make breathing difficult by blocking oxygen into the bloodstream.
This will result in long-term shortness of breath and easily tired to a decrease in quality of life.
Preliminary evidence suggests that lung damage occurs in about 20 percent of patients discharged from hospital.
