Case trapped Ismail The holes in Bareskrim Polri have now been revealed. Ismail Bolong was named a suspect in the illegal mining case, unrelated to the bribery case.
Ismail Bolong initially complied with the police summons from 11.30 WIB on Tuesday (6/12/2022). Ismail Bolong failed to summon twice until the police warned him that he will be forced to pick him up.
On Wednesday (7/12) afternoon, Ismail Bolong’s lawyer Johanes Tobing provided the latest on his client’s status. Ismail Bolong became a suspect and was arrested by the police.
“We have to communicate that IB has officially become a suspect, and in this way we also communicate that Mr. IB has been officially detained,” Johanes told reporters at the Bareskrim Polri building on Wednesday (7/12).

Johanes said Ismail Bolong has been detained since 01:45 yesterday. He also accompanied his client through the detention process.
“(Detainee) at 01:45 in the morning. So I accompanied him to sign that his exam which I passed on to the investigators was indeed a previous degree,” he said.
He was confused that his client had been named a suspect. This is because Ismail Bolong was the first time he was examined.
“Indeed, of course, we have objections that the process of becoming a suspect has already been officially declared, that once or twice being summoned, of course, must be examined. In their opinion it has been held, I ask, it is still the subject of investigation, why is he already a suspect? They said a case had already been dropped when I also asked for them to state that this was the investigator’s authority. When it was at that point, it was over,” he said.
The pitfall of the Ismail Bolong article
Johanes also revealed the article that ensnared Ismail Bolong. Ismail Bolong is suspected of violating article 158 of the Minerba law number 3 of 2020 in conjunction with article 159 in conjunction with article 161 relating to illegal mining.
“We have to speak frankly regarding the case which is suspected of having three articles against our client Mr. IB, articles 158, 159, 161 regarding the licensing and illegal distribution of mining assets and so on,” Johanes said.
Johanes said his client was asked 62 questions by Bareskrim investigators during the exam. In total, Ismail Bolong was examined for about 13 hours.
“If Mr. IB is examined for 13 hours, there will be 62 questions,” he said.
