“Islamic Group Assaults Al-Ahbash supporters in Sidon: Lebanon Debate Report”

Today, Sunday, the Association of Islamic Charitable Projects “Al-Ahbash” organized a scouting activity on the sea corniche in Sidon, as part of the weekly program it organizes in all regions, but this activity did not go unnoticed.

During the revival of the activity, a group consisting of gunmen with military pistols and white weapons assaulted two people from the “Al-Ahbash” supporters who were participating in the activity, injuring them, and it became clear later that the attackers belonged to the Islamic Group.

The “Lebanon Debate” learned that the attacking group had confiscated the phone of one of the victims.

After the calls, it became clear that this phone is in the center of the Islamic Group, and they refused to hand it over.

The attack came a day after days of calls for incitement, which were witnessed by accounts supporting the group on social media, which confirms that the forms of the day were premeditated and aimed at sedition.

And according to what happened, the Projects Association will take the status of a personal claim against all those who assaulted its supporters.

In this context, Sidonian information confirmed to the “Lebanese Debate” that “the new intensive presence of the Association of Projects in the city of Sidon apparently disturbed the Islamic group, which considers the city one of its main strongholds.”

The sources believed that “the problem cannot be separated from the current state of polarization in the Sunni Islamic arena.”

And the Association of Islamic Charitable Projects had stated in a statement, “Several days ago, there has been a campaign of suspicious incitement, insults and slander against the Association of Islamic Charitable Projects by motorists in the beloved city of Sidon and others on social media and others.”

“This campaign leads to sedition,” the statement added.

And he continued, “And today, Sunday, an attack took place by motorists on some of the association’s youth, after the end of its activity in Sidon today and the people’s departure, and not as they claimed and slandered that the association’s youth were the ones who attacked them, and this matter is documented.”

And the statement concluded, “We are in the process of prosecuting everyone who sought to harm the youth of projects in the beloved, safe Sidon.”
