TILBURG –
In the center of Tilburg, they are looking for a solution to make the shopping streets corona proof. For example, there should be queues with a maximum number of people waiting and hostesses who will talk to shoppers about their behavior.

Retailers are eager for patronage, so they are only too happy to ensure a safe shopping street. “It is a matter of trying,” says Stefan van Aarle, chairman of the Ondernemersfonds. “We are looking for the balance between warning and making the economy run again.”
One and a half meters
Those who walk through the shopping street on Saturday afternoon will notice that it is very difficult to keep a meter and a half away. “The distance in the shops is easy to keep, but if you walk through the city, it won’t be a meter and a half”, says a woman who comes to do a necessary message.
That is also the bottleneck. Despite well-intentioned initiatives, people seem to be unaware of the need to keep their distance. “So you really appeal to the responsibility of the individual,” says Van Aarle. “We all have to do our part to make this workable.”
HEAD
It was of course not nearly as busy on this rainy Saturday as usual. However, it was not possible to keep this distance from other visitors. Van Aarle is therefore a bit worried about next week, when the weather seems to be getting better. “We look like Coronamoe. Fortunately, we can scale up enforcement as the crowds increase.”
The Enterprise Fund is already thinking about the next steps. “Maybe we can build direction paths, so that people can avoid each other better,” says Van Aarle. “Ultimately, people have to do it themselves.”
