“Is Central Cinema Rottweil also showing ‘Nothing new in the west’?”

The war drama “Nothing New in the West” won the Oscars. Reason enough for the Central Kino to include the blockbuster in its programme?

A film with four Oscars and in Rottweil it cannot be seen on the big screen. Too bad, some may have thought.

But what is not, can still be. Definitely even, as Nicole Zeiler emphasizes when asked. “We’ll take him in next week or the week after that,” says the theater director of the Central Kino.

Rental makes specifications

The fact that this has not yet happened is mainly due to the requirements of the film distributor. Such an Oscar-winning film can shake up the planned program if you have to play it all day. The cinema already has another big winner of the Oscars currently in the program: “Everything Everywhere All At Once”, which was awarded seven Oscars.

“We already had that in our program last year. But somehow it went under the radar, says Zeiler. For a “repeat” they decided because of the Oscars. And now the film runs much better. “One or the other says to himself: I’ll watch it on the big screen.”

Film belongs on the big screen

Zeiler also expects this from “Nothing New in the West”. The film produced by Netflix simply belongs on the big screen. “He has very good camera work,” says Zeiler enthusiastically. The same applies to the sound and the film music. It just wouldn’t come across as streamed on the screen at home. When exactly “Nothing new in the West” will be shown, Zeiler cannot yet say. So it’s worth keeping an eye on the showcases on Untere Hauptstrasse.

Although the cinema team was able to get a taste of Hollywood at the Cannes Film Festival last year, the Oscars remain a dream. “Unfortunately, you need an invitation for that,” says Nicole Zeiler and laughs. Maybe it will work anyway – Hollywood is not called the dream factory for nothing.

If you can’t wait for the war drama to start in Rottweil, you can go to Oberndorf: the film is already showing in the Paradies cinema and can be seen on Wednesday at 8 p.m. and next Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
