The ammunition was delivered on two Russian-flagged cargo ships, which departed from Iranian ports in January via the Caspian Sea.

The two cargo ships allegedly involved in the shipment of ammunition from Iran to Russia are named Musa Jalil and The Begey. Both these ships sailed under the Russian flag.

According to the investigation, one of the ships departed Iran around January 10, and the second departed on January 12.

The two ships are estimated to be carrying about 200 containers containing ammunition for weapons.

“200 containers on two ships are capable of carrying this much ammunition,” said the source Sky News.

It is suspected that the cargo ship carried 100 million bullets of various sizes including 5.56mm, 7.62mm, 9mm, 12.7mm and 14.5mm. All of these types of bullets can be used for a variety of weapons ranging from pistols, assault rifles and machine guns.

In addition to ammunition, both ships also carry 40mm grenades for grenade launchers, 107mm anti-tank rockets, mortars of various sizes, and artillery rockets.

Russia’s military ammunition supply is thought to be running low, after the war with Ukraine for the past year.

Previously there were allegations that Tehran also sent hundreds of lethal drones to Moscow, to destroy Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

Iran is also suspected of supplying Russia with far more lethal ballistic missiles. However, there is no evidence to confirm this.

In addition to Iran’s support, there are also concerns about the potential for China to start supplying weapons to Russia. However, China has disputed the claim.
