Introducing the First Electric Lamborghini: The Lanzador, a Revolutionary SUV-Coupe Concept

If you are not completely indifferent to the automotive world of recent years, you have certainly already heard about the body design of the SUV-coupe. This is a raised car with a flowing rear, but two pairs of doors. Today, such a car is offered by a whole constellation of brands, let’s remember the BMW X6, Škoda Enyaq Coupé or Renault Arkana. But the first honest SUV-coupe, i.e. with a raised body and one pair of doors, is arriving only now. Thanks Lamb.

The Italian car company does not churn out one product after another, so each of its new products attracts enormous attention. What about the fact that it’s just a concept. At the Monterey Car Week event, Lamborghini presented a vision called the Lanzador, which will be transformed into a production car in 2028, the fourth model in the brand’s range and the first ever electric car.

The Lanzador is a concept gran turismo with a 2+2 layout, and the external appearance certainly does not deny the DNA of Lamborghini. The increased bodywork is accompanied by a hard-to-change nose and also an iconic wedge-shaped silhouette with very sharply cut edges. “With this concept, we are launching a new Ultra GT car segment that is ready to offer customers a new and unique driving experience,” said Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of Lamborghini.

Lanzador is not a typical futuristic concept. Its concept is very close to the production car.

It’s still too early for technical details. But the engineers reveal that the concept drives one electric motor on each of the axles, creating all-wheel drive. Therefore, in addition to efficient passage through winding districts, the Lambo will not get lost even off paved roads, which is where it is headed with its raised body and respectable ground clearance.

Hand in hand with the electric drive, maximum aerodynamic efficiency is also required. Active aerodynamics regulate the air flow so that the car achieves the longest possible range when driving quietly, but generates maximum downforce during sharp driving. The car is equipped with an air chassis and includes a swiveling rear axle, which is supposed to ensure nimble driving characteristics and high-speed stability.

Lamborghini designed the cabin in such a way that the driver feels like a fighter pilot. The interior is therefore maximally ergonomic and at the same time full of sustainable materials following modern trends. Some of the elements that we don’t see at first glance (for example, the foam in the sports seats) are created from recycled fibers on a 3D printer.

The technical basis of the first electric Lamborghini will be the SSP Sport platform, which the automaker is developing together with Porsche (for the new Panamera or Taycan). Owners will therefore benefit from the 800V architecture, which enables charging power of up to 350 kW. But we are almost certain that this is not the only parameter with which the brand wants to surprise us in five years.

We just have to wait.
