International – MLS: De Boer no longer coach of Atlanta

New York (SID) – Long-time Dutch football player Frank de Boer is no longer the coach of the United States club Atlanta United. According to the association, the separation took place by mutual agreement. The 50-year-old and his team had lost all three group games at the tournament of the North American professional league MLS in Orlando, and his eleven were the only team not to score a single goal.

“I am grateful for the opportunity I had with Atlanta United,” said de Boer: “Training in Major League Soccer and living in Atlanta was a wonderful experience and a welcome new challenge.” In addition to him, his two assistant coaches and all video analysts have to vacate their posts.

After stints at Ajax Amsterdam, Inter Milan and Crystal Palace, the former world-class central defender took on the coaching job at United in January 2019 and led the team to the final of the Eastern Conference in his first year.
