International Day of Hugs. What effect can a 10-second gesture of illness have on health?

The new list of people who can be vaccinated against COVID-19 in the second period of immunization, before the general population appeared in the Official Gazette on Thursday evening.

Compared to the initial version, the Government has introduced dozens of new socio-professional categories with priority for vaccination, such as athletes, veterinarians, lawyers, funeral workers, but also more politicians.

The new list of people who can be vaccinated against COVID-19 in the second period of immunization appeared in the Official Gazette on Thursday evening, before the general population. Compared to the initial version, the Government has introduced dozens of new socio-professional categories with priority for vaccination, such as athletes, veterinarians, lawyers, funeral workers, but also more politicians.

Who can be immunized in STAGE 2 of vaccination (the news are those written in bold), according to the act published in the Official Gazette:

a) population at risk:

(i) adults over the age of 65;

(ii) persons with chronic diseases, regardless of age, according to the indications of the vaccines used;

(iii) persons with a degree of disability, immobilized persons, immunocompromised persons, their companions and persons living in the same household with them

(iv) homeless people

b) workers carrying out activities in key areas, essential:

(i) key personnel for the functioning of state institutions, respectively Parliament, Constitutional Court, Presidency, Government, Economic and Social Council, People’s Advocate, Legislative Council, National Bank of Romania, ministries and institutions subordinated to them

ii) the active personnel within the institutions from the national system of national defense, public order, national security and of the judicial authority, bailiffs, interpreters and translators authorized by the Ministry of Justice, lawyers registered in the list of lawyers drawn up according to Law no. 51/1995 for the organization and exercise of the legal profession, republished, with subsequent amendments and completions, as well as members of the National Union of Notaries Public, as well as members from Romania in the European Parliament

(iii) staff in the vital economic sector:

– processing, distribution and marketing of staple foods, namely: bakery, dairy, meat, fruit and vegetables;

– water plants, water treatment, transport and distribution;

– power plants, production, transmission and distribution of electricity;

– gas production, transmission and distribution units;

– units for the production, transport and distribution of liquid and solid fuels;

– units for the production, transport and distribution of medicines and sanitary materials;

– transport of persons and goods;

– railway junctions, civil and military airports, essential ports;

– communications, namely the Special Telecommunications Service, national radio and television;

– Romanian maritime and river navigating personnel;

– Romanian personnel operating on marine platforms (wind, gas, oil)

– Romanian personnel working on mobile offshore drilling units (FPSO type ships and FSU type ships)

(iv) school and nursery staff;

(v) postal and courier staff;

(vi) the staff of religious cults;

(vii) media personnel carrying out activities with an increased risk of exposure to SARS-CoV-2 infection, such as: medical reports;

(viii) sanitation and waste personnel;

(ix) personnel working in the field of funerals, directly involved in the handling of human corpses;

(x) staff of the Directorates-General for Social Welfare and Child Protection / Public Social Welfare Service who work directly with the beneficiaries;

(xi) persons providing medical and social assistance to the persons referred to in point (iii) of letter a);

(xii) local public administration staff;

(xiii) workers in agriculture and the food industry;

(xiv) the staff of the National Meteorological Administration

(xv) members of diplomatic missions, career consular offices and representatives of international organizations in Romania, including accompanying family members, holders of identity cards specially issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs;

(xvi) civilian and military personnel to carry out missions outside their national territory, including family members accompanying them to the post, prior to leaving the mission;

(xvii) social inspectors within the National Agency for Payments and Social Inspection and their subordinate structures.

(xviii) the staff of the Romanian Court of Accounts and of the county and Bucharest chambers of accounts

(xix) the staff within the central and local apparatus of the Competition Council

(xx) athletes who are members of national or Olympic teams, individually qualified athletes for the Olympic Games and technical staff involved in the training of those athletes

(xxi) veterinary staff working in veterinary medical practices

(the novelties are the ones written in bold letters), according to the act published in the Official Gazette:

a) population at risk:
