At the beginning of April, the first pictures came from Butsja. What they showed shook the world. The bodies were in the streets. Hands were tied on his back. Some were burned. The victims were old and they were young. They were women, and they were men.

There were also reports of torture, looting and girls and women being raped before being killed. So far, 350 bodies have been found. The assumption is that there are more. The city had 40,000 inhabitants before the war.
