The situation in which the building of the Intelhorce school in Malaga It was closed five years ago to be torn down and rebuilt. Since then, all students have attended class at the CEIP El Tarajal, waiting for the Board to carry out the works. This Monday, Intelhorce families gathered at the doors of the educational center, at the same time that the Territorial Delegate for Educational Development in Malaga, Miguel Briones, the management of the educational center and representatives of the AMPA, held a meeting in which they informed that before the end of this year the works will be put out to tender.

Last March, the Minister of Educational Development, Patricia de Pozo, visited the school and informed them that a modification was going to be made to the project which was made to create an infrastructure that would accommodate an educational line, since I wanted to build the school with the option of being able to expand to two lines. At this point, the director of the CEIP Intelhorce, Juan Carlos Gutiérrez, assures that at the meeting they were informed that In a few weeks the project will be completed and they will proceed to tender the works.

Likewise, he maintains that they have been informed that the works, when they begin, will last one year and that for the 2025/2026 academic year they could return to their own facilities. “The new school will be state-of-the-artwith its own energy, eco-sustainable, orchard and garden area,” says Gutiérrez.

Currently in the educational center that is a learning community, 16 teachers work and 70 students are enrolled, 36% less than there were five years ago. At this point, Gutiérrez emphasizes that “the school is still very much alive because there are few children and the attention is very personalized.”

The classes take place at the CEIP El Tarajal, where they have “two schools in one”, since each educational center has its own management team and its own students. Besides, All students can attend the morning classroom and the dining room., but they do not have extracurricular activities. At this point, Gutiérrez points out that they have raised this with the Educational Development delegate at the meeting and they want to extend their schedules for the next course and end at 5:00 p.m., since “we came provisionally and we have been here for five years.” over there”.

Regarding families, the director points out that “They are happy with school life, but not with the situation we are in”. Likewise, he emphasizes that the attention to children is “super good” because there are few of them, as in the case of infants, where they have a class of 14 children of three, four and five years old and they consider that “the numbers are luxury”.

For their part, the Junta de Andalucía explains that the Educational Development delegate has held a meeting with the management of the CEIP Intelhorce and representatives of the AMPA to inform them about the status of the new school project. In this meeting, they maintain that Briones has stated that In this first quarter of the year, the supervision work of the original project will be completed, which had been modified in agreement with the educational community, and with the main objective of extending it to a second line. On the other hand, they also assure that the families have been informed that the work will also be put out to tender before the end of the year.

Likewise, they point out that the delegate has insisted that not only has there been this modification of the original project, that amounted to more than 3 million eurosbut also the new educational needs have been taken into consideration to build a more ambitious center with the idea of serving a greater number of the school population.
