Last year, a new environmental charter for Lyon-Bron airport came into effect. Signed by the airport manager (Vinci Airports), State services, local elected officials, local residents’ associations and users, it aims to reconcile the interests of each. Namely, the quality of life of local residents, the activity of aeronautical companies, flying clubs and training schools, and the management and economic activity of the airport.

Among the notable changes in this charter, the limitation of the number of flights per year but also the addition of a trajectory monitoring tool to limit anomalies. A year later, this measure materialized.

A mast 1.5 to 2 meters high on the roof

During the June municipal council, the City of Saint-Priest announced the upcoming installation of a noise measurement station on the roof of the Les Marendiers school complex. According to Sophie Vergnon, deputy mayor in charge of ecology and the environment, this station includes “a mast 1.5 to 2 meters high supporting a microphone” and “a device the size of a suitcase in which the recording devices are grouped”.

To set up this measuring station on the roof, the municipality, which takes charge of the arrival of electricity and the electrical consumption of the devices, must first carry out some work. According to the office of mayor Gilles Gascon (LR), they are planned for this summer. On the other hand, the airport has not yet decided on the date of installation of its equipment.

Also, the City specifies to make available the roof of the Marendiers school “free of charge”. In return, “the airport undertakes to provide the municipality free of charge and regularly with a commented summary of the results of the measurements”. “Under what terms will these measures be communicated”, asked the elected opposition member Gilles Grandval. “For the sake of total transparency,” promised Sophie Vergnon.
