Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Toyota Innova will have new competitors not only from Korean players such as Hyundai Custo, but also fellow Japanese manufacturers, namely Honda. Some time ago Honda had stated that it would release the N7X in Indonesia at the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) this August. However, with the retreat of the event, the launch of the N7X also has the potential to go backwards.
“The GIIAS N7X has been postponed again until November (2021). Indeed, I have said that we are waiting for the N7X at GIIAS, basically we still support GIIAS even though it has been postponed to November with the introduction of products in this event,” said Business Innovation and Sales & Marketing Director of PT Honda Prospect Motor (HPM) Yusak Billy at the Honda Racing Simulator Championship 2 conference, Monday (9/8/21).
Honda officially introduced the N7X Concept in early May 2021. This car concept launched globally for the first time in Indonesia. From the curve of this car it looks like a alloy sport utility vehicle (SUV) and multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) and is predicted to be the successor to the Mobilio which is starting to lose its prestige, it could even enter the segment above it as a medium MPV.
“We continue to monitor the progress of the exhibition, whether to withdraw or what. But at GIAAS we prioritize new products. Regarding the N7X, we will continue to monitor whether it advances or what, we will let you know official again. But at GIIAS, we present a new excitement surprise,” said Billy.
This concept car has the potential to enter the Toyota Innova and Avanza segments in the 7 seater class, but it is certain which segment it will go to. Honda itself calls this car combines premium comfort and spaciousness typical of an MPV with the toughness and style of an SUV, thus adopting the two genres of vehicles.
The Honda N7X Concept was introduced at the Main Atrium, Trans Studio Mall Bandung on June 10-13, 2021, then continued to several cities, namely Jakarta to Makassar.
