In Germany, a man on a high-speed train injured three people with a knife. That happened in the ICE, between Regensburg and Nürnberg in the southeast of the country. The suspected perpetrator has been arrested.
It is believed that he acted alone. The suspect is a 27-year-old Syrian, the German news agency DPA reported. Nothing is known about his motive. The newspaper Bild reports that he had psychological problems. There are also reports that the man has called for help.
The victims are seriously injured. They were taken to hospital but are not believed to be life-threatening.
300 passengers
The report was received by the German police around 9 a.m. The train has been stopped halfway between the two cities and the police have been investigating for hours. Train traffic between Regensberg and Nürnberg has come to a halt.
There were about 300 passengers on the train. They have been taken care of elsewhere. Special units of the German police were quickly on the scene. They were on their way to Regensburg to be used for a football match.
