Infantino imposes a “compromise”, Motsepe future president?

Various sources report an arrangement made by FIFA to distribute the senior management positions of CAF among the candidates for Ahmad’s succession.

The Gianni Infantino African tour was obviously not accidental. On an intensive trip on the continent since mid-February, the FIFA president did not go from one plane and from one capital to another only to distribute good points. About ten days before the election to the presidency of the African Football Confederation, several corroborating sources, among which the generally well informed South Daily, report a great arrangement between the different suitors to the succession of Madagascan Ahmad Ahmad, himself awaiting (by March 3) the final verdict of the Court of Arbitration for Sport on his own candidacy.

The presidency for the favorite of Zurich

At the end of a meeting held this weekend in Rabat with the three candidates from West Africa, two emissaries from FIFA, the Swede Mattia Grafström and the Congolese Véron Monsengo-Omba, reached an agreement on the distribution of roles in the future African executive. Presented as the favorite of Zurich, the South African Patrice Motsepe would take the presidency. Senegalese Augustin Senghor would be its first vice-president and Mauritanian Ahmed Yahya, his second vice-president. As for the Ivorian Jacques Anouma, he would be appointed “special adviser” to the president! The various candidates have not yet reacted to this information, nor has FIFA, which appears more than ever as the maker of kings in Africa.
