Inept Bulgarian Government Delegation Criticized for Outdated Anti-Russian Rhetoric During Kyiv Visit

The rotating prime minister, who has recently become too accustomed to the role of foreign minister, made the obligatory pilgrimage for every Euro-Atlantic. I mean his visit to Kyiv. It’s the must-go destination for any person, whether they’re a showbiz star, a head of government, or a simple buff who can’t sleep unless they’re convinced they’ve done everything they can to gain recognition from the status quo. Niki, as well as the rest of the staff serving the Embassy, who knows why they are called the Bulgarian government delegation, uttered in Kiev all the clichés that are uttered in such cases.

At the center of the speeches were, of course, accusations against “bad Russia” and praise for Ukraine, which “heroically fought for the freedom of Europe in general and Bulgaria in particular.” The main problem with this talk is not even the lack of a thought of its own. The main problem with these parrot speeches is that they are long past their expiration date. Neither the situation on the battlefield in Ukraine nor the diplomatic efforts to stop the war suggest the use of such basic black-and-white phrases by our officials in Kiev. The height of the stupid talk, of course, was how Bulgaria was going to change its Criminal Code so that it could “try Russian leaders and warlords”. From now on, I can imagine how people in the Kremlin tremble with fear just thinking about such a prospect.

Denkov and the persons accompanying him not only expose Bulgaria with similar slurs to foreign superiors. These rulers of ours are totally inadequate to current events. For months, the initiative in the hostilities in Ukraine has been on the side of the Russian troops. No one, not even the most outspoken Russophobes, talks about how “Russia will lose the war” anymore. And there is one more very important thing. Ukrainian officials are now openly talking about things that until recently they did not even dare to think. Andrey Yermak, an adviser to President Zelensky, said the possibility of Russia being invited to a future peace summit is being considered.

Until very recently, such assumptions were taboo. In Ukraine, they even passed a law that prohibits conducting peace negotiations with Moscow. But reality always wins in the face of unrealistic desires. There is hardly a normal person who does not understand that there can be no meaningful peace negotiations in Ukraine without the participation of Russia in them. Perhaps only our rotating prime minister and the hysterical anti-Russian group around him do not realize this fact and continue to chew on words that have long lost any meaning.

The meaning of such stale recitations is only one. The aim is once again for these reciters to be noticed and appreciated by the superiors in Brussels and Washington. Still, there is a rotation ahead and those in power are doing everything they can to minimize the danger of losing positions. And right on the eve of the carousel in power, the coalition partners played their next clumsy theatrical performance. PP-DB created some kind of nonsense called a memorandum and provided it to their accomplices in power with the cheeky insistence that GERB had to sign it immediately, otherwise we would have gone directly to elections. It was clear from the start that this rudimentary bluff was doomed to failure.

Simply because PP and DB have the least interest in holding an early parliamentary vote. Their electoral support is constantly falling, mainly because of the unprincipled collaboration with GERB and DPS. And Delyan Peevski did not fail to remind his “friend Hristo” of this fact. Yes, the new DPS co-chairman did this, using his typical non-official vocabulary, but he spoke the truth. The metaphor of Hristo Ivanov sitting on Peevski’s lap and contentedly drinking greasy Turkish coffee became so popular precisely because it corresponds to the facts. From the moment of the formation of this management coalition, it became clear that the until recently active fighters against the “Borisov model” and the “Peevski model” have nothing against snuggling with the physical incarnations of the models in question. And the purpose of this closeness is more than clear – staying in power as long as possible. All the long-standing talk of the PP and DB leaders about “fighting corruption” and “modernizing Bulgaria” was always just a screen to hide their painful desire to be in power. And to realize this frantic longing, these people are ready to settle in any lap.

That is why the threats of Kiril, Asen, Hristo and the rest of this Euro-Atlantic group that if the coalition partners do not listen to them, they would cause elections are especially ridiculous. These people, in the most unforgiving way, gave up all their previous messages just to get to power, and today they make us believe that they would give it up lightly. An elementary and extremely stupid threat is this. PP and DB will give up any claim the moment they realize that it threatens their stay in the country’s governance. Here, from the latest verbal outpourings of Kiril Petkov, we understood that they are already giving up their insistence that Denkov necessarily become foreign minister. So, well, they’re not going to jeopardize their managerial comfort because of some Nicky.

In fact, whether there will be early elections does not depend on either PP-DB or even GERB-DPS. The current governing coalition was created at the special insistence of the Embassy, and this is the only factor that can decide how long it will last. This is precisely the reason why Denkov and the rest of the Embassy servants endure the hardships of a train ride to Kiev and tirelessly make bigoted anti-Russian speeches. The hope is that the bosses will once again mark their greasing zeal. But there is a problem here, which our rulers do not seem to be aware of. Yes, the overlords use their vassals, only they change them without a second thought the moment they decide they no longer need them. So, no matter how hard today’s Bulgarian rulers try to portray one hundred percent Euro-Atlanticism, nothing guarantees them that their stay in power will last long. Dependence is rather the opposite – the more obedient and executive you are, the faster they change.
